Gökçeada, Çanakkale - Turkey

Greetings, we set out to go to Gökçeada on the second day of the Eid al-Adha holiday. We took the ferry from Kabatepe and were able to go to the island in 1 hour and 20 minutes.

We had purchased our round-trip ferry tickets online from Gestaş in advance. If you go without buying a ticket, you will have to wait in line.

In summary: In our opinion, Gökçeada; We are a beautiful island that is very dry, where a car is a must, where there is no olive cultivation although there are many olive trees, where wine is sold but does not have its own vineyard. We should not make Gökçeada lovers angry :)

After getting off the ferry, we headed towards the city center, where our hotel was located. We usually stay in hotels in the city center and let's explore and see everywhere we go without tying ourselves to a hotel. Anyway, we stayed at the Square Hotel, just above EfiBadem in the center. The hotel was beautiful, spotlessly clean, we liked it very much. There is a paid parking lot right behind the hotel (100 TL per day), you can enter the hotel directly from the parking lot, which is very nice. The breakfast was a little lacking and lacked variety for us, other than that there was no problem..

Now let me talk about what we do day by day;

1. Day: We arrived on the island in the evening, settled in our hotel, changed our clothes and immediately went to Kaleköy. 5-6 minutes away from the hotel and the city center. You cannot enter the beach area by car, there is a parking lot nearby, you have to leave it there or on the side of the road.

   1. I had made a reservation for dinner at Eleni Restaurant 2 weeks in advance, we went there quickly.. but surprise :) they wrote the reservation date wrong.. After a short meeting, thanks to the authorized person, he immediately arranged a nice table for us and they won our hearts with the shrimp shot offer 🫶

2. Day: We had a sightseeing and sea day today. We set off after breakfast. First, we walked around "Tepeköy, Gökçeada Dam" and now we decided to go swimming and went to "Kefalos Beach". Of course, the beach area was very crowded. We found a place at the bottom of the rocks at the end of the beach and threw down our chairs. It was such a beautiful place away from the crowds that we were lucky :)

   1. I had made a reservation for dinner at Meraklis Restaurant 2 weeks in advance. We quickly went there. But again, surprise :) They said your reservation was canceled, however, when I had a problem the previous evening, I called the restaurant and confirmed my reservation. After a little conversation, we realized that there was another reservation with the same name. Instead they canceled our reservation. We sat and waited in the village coffeehouse for a while, while they immediately arranged a place for us.

      1. For entertainment, it has a nice tavern atmosphere.

      2. Frankly, we didn't like the appetizers very much.

      3. Of course, we also participated in the plate breaking ceremony :) Each plate you break adds 50 TL to your account. They give it in a set of 10.

3. Day: After checking out of the hotel; We went to Zeytinliköy. It was so hot that we had a hard time climbing the slopes of Zeytinliköy. After touring the village for a while, we went to a cafe under the trees and took a breather. Since our ferry was at 17:00, we decided to visit the whole island by car. We toured the whole island and went to the port around 16:00. So our island holiday is completed :)
